The Helions Bumpstead Community Benefit Society Ltd

The Helions Bumpstead Community Benefit Society Ltd was established in 2017 to enable our community to safeguard the future of the Three Horseshoes public house for current and future generations,  in recognition of its importance and potential to the village as a community amenity.

The  Community Benefit Society is run in accordance with the Model Rules of the Plunkett Foundation and is registered with the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority).  The concept of Community is at heart of these rules – any surplus generated by the Society after providing for the present and future needs of the Society would be made available for other community projects.

In March 2019, following tremendous support of the local community and beyond, HBCBS purchased the Three Horseshoes with funds raised from a community share offer as well as from the government backed ‘More than a Pub’ programme.

Following renovation, in 2020 HBCBS will appoint a tenant to run the commercial business of the pub who will work with the Management Committee of HBCBS to ensure we combine our community focus with a professional and high quality customer experience.

We are grateful for the support of Braintree District Council, Essex County Council, the Plunkett Foundation ‘More than a Pub’ programme and the Big Lottery Community Fund.
